Here at The Blue Coat School, we empower all of our pupils to develop a passion for reading. Whether that be reading around their subjects to support with their studies, or discovering the joy of reading for pleasure where they can visit far off places and different worlds from the comfort of the library or their sofa at home.

All of our books are available for pupils to borrow; this includes relevant revision guides across subject areas as well as a fantastic collection of both Fiction and Non-Fiction books. We also have a selection of DVDs to borrow.

We encourage our parents/carers to log on to our library dashboard here to see what the recommended reading is for their child’s subjects, and encourage your child to take advantage of our large selection of books that they can read for fun in their own time.

Reading a variety of different books will not only help with subject knowledge but will help your child to improve their spelling, challenge their perspectives, increase their vocabulary and stimulate their imagination.

In addition to our pupils being welcome to browse the library during their break and lunchtime, we operate a click and collect service so books can be dropped off to pupils during form time. For details on our click and collect service, please watch our instructional video.

For pupils to access their library account, they simply need to use their usual school username and password. We encourage them to leave a review once they have finished their book, so they can reflect on their experience, make recommendations to their peers, and so we know what they are enjoying and would like to see more of.
